The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry organises the annual Sharjah Excellence Award under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi. The Board of Trustees convened to evaluate the 2025 cycle and establish strategic directions for the forthcoming year. Chaired by Abdallah Sultan Al Owais the session highlighted sustained growth in participant numbers and endorsed enhancements including a revamped digital platform.
Al Owais commended the team’s efforts and pointed to a notable rise in entries across all categories during the prior edition. He affirmed that the award is solidifying its role as a premier platform for institutional innovation in the region. Al Owais added that the award continues to achieve significant progress each year through the adoption of a new global model based on fourth-generation standards combined with an expanding participant base reflecting the growing confidence in the award as a benchmark for institutional excellence in the region.
According to the General Coordinator Nada Al Hajri the 2026 edition will feature a structured launch roadmap accompanied by expanded training workshops for evaluators and participants. Al Hajri delivered a review of trends from the last three cycles that showed broader category representation and improved automation through the user-friendly digital system. The new platform aligns fully with international criteria while simplifying processes for all involved parties the general coordinator noted.
The Board examined proposals for sector-specific recognition of winners to better benchmark industry performance and showcase excellence. Recommendations included expanding marketing activities throughout GCC countries in partnership with the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority. Additional incentives for award recipients through government entities were also suggested to heighten the programme’s appeal according to the meeting outcomes.
The Sharjah Excellence Award maintains eight distinct categories tailored to company size and focus areas such as localisation and organisational performance according to the chamber’s official initiative page. These encompass separate honours for large medium and small enterprises in the private sector within the emirate along with Gulf-wide localisation initiatives.
