Five sectors posted advances with industrials recording the largest increase of 0.78 percent. Transportation rose 0.32 percent, insurance added 0.27 percent, and both real estate and telecoms gained 0.02 percent each.
QSE data additionally indicated that banks and financial services together with consumer goods and services each declined 0.27 percent during the initial trading period. By 10:00 am, turnover stood at QR 78.461 million with 20.491 million shares exchanged. The activity occurred across 2,766 transactions according to the exchange figures.
A Qatar News Agency report from the previous session detailed that the index had decreased by 55.93 points, or 0.56 percent, at the Monday open to 9,989 points under pressure from most sectors. Trading Economics reported that the index closed at 9,892 points on August 17, 2026 after a 1.52 percent loss that day. Consumer goods and services fell 0.85 percent on Monday with banks and financial services down 0.72 percent.
The Peninsula reported that the index closed at 10,571.1 points in early January 2026 after a single-session market capitalization surge of QR 23.4 billion. Trading Economics data places the year-on-year change as of mid-August at a decline of 13.98 percent. The benchmark has traded below the 10,000 level in recent weeks following higher readings earlier in the year.
CEIC Data reported Qatar market capitalization at $163.237 billion in July 2026. A QNB weekly market report from April 2026 put the capitalization at QR 638.5 billion. The exchange listed more than 50 companies at the time according to the QNB assessment.
A World Federation of Exchanges review noted that the Qatar Stock Exchange completed its first fully marketed secondary offering in 2026 in partnership with Ooredoo. The transaction expanded free float and contributed to improved liquidity. The review highlighted increased shareholder participation as one outcome of the initiative.
