IBPC Dubai has positioned the BRICS Summit as a key opportunity to expand economic and financial cooperation between the UAE and India. The council offered its assessment as the 18th BRICS Summit opened in New Delhi according to a WAM report published on the day the gathering began. The UAE and India maintain a strategic partnership that serves as a model within BRICS supported by shared projects in trade investment and logistics connectivity. India holds the BRICS presidency this year which marks the group’s 20th anniversary and the summit runs through September 13 under the theme of building resilience innovation cooperation and sustainability.
Bilateral trade between the UAE and India reached 101.25 billion dollars in the 2025-2026 financial year WAM reported. This figure marks the second consecutive year that trade has surpassed 100 billion dollars. The two countries have set a target to increase bilateral trade to 200 billion dollars by 2032 the news agency added. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement that took effect in 2022 has driven growth by facilitating greater flows of goods services and investment between the private sectors of both nations.
The UAE has participated as a full BRICS member since January 2024 and maintains membership in the New Development Bank according to WAM data. Non-oil foreign trade between the UAE and BRICS economies exceeded 312 billion dollars in 2025 reflecting 28.5 percent growth from the prior year. BRICS countries represented about 31 percent of the UAE’s total non-oil foreign trade that year with particularly strong volumes involving China and India. These statistics underscore the summit’s relevance for advancing coordinated economic policies across the group.
IBPC Dubai has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Indo-UAE economic ties through sustained engagement and sector-specific initiatives a report from HiDubai noted earlier this year. The council recorded growth in membership and expanded participation from women professionals while appointing convenors for focus groups in health finance technology real estate energy and tourism. It has scheduled events including the West Asia Business Conclave in April 2026 and a Family Business Conference the following month to foster cross-border partnerships. Such activities align with the multilateral discussions at the BRICS Summit and support practical business outcomes for Indian enterprises operating in the UAE.
UAE officials have advocated for enhanced financial cooperation within BRICS and improved representation for emerging economies in global institutions during preparatory meetings Gulf News reported. The BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors adopted a joint statement that addresses infrastructure financing public-private partnerships and reforms to international economic governance. The UAE has also backed the New Development Bank’s strategy covering 2027 through 2031 as well as the launch of a knowledge portal for sharing expertise among members. These steps complement the work of organizations like IBPC Dubai in translating high-level agreements into tangible gains for bilateral trade and investment.
