Qatar Bourse Index Advances 24 Points | AI-Generated Image

Qatar News Agency reported that the main index closed at 9,848.95 points on September 13 after advancing 24.46 points or 0.25 percent from the previous close. The gain reflects renewed interest among investors in the bourse’s listed companies. This performance comes after the index had closed the prior trading day at 9,824.49 points.

During the session a total of 96,129,150 shares were exchanged with a value of 224,192,494.755 riyals. The activity involved 15,596 transactions in all sectors of the market. QNA figures show that shares of 23 companies advanced while those of 23 others declined with six companies holding steady at their previous closing prices.

The market capitalisation increased to 594,010,560,125.764 riyals by the close of trading. This compared with 591,484,190,179.294 riyals at the end of the previous session. The rise in capitalisation aligned with the overall positive movement of the index.

At the start of Sunday’s trading the index had already shown gains of 0.17 percent or 16.41 points to reach 9,840 points. The Peninsula Qatar reported that four sectors provided support with industrials leading at 1.32 percent higher. Insurance advanced 0.84 percent while telecoms and consumer goods and services each rose 0.08 percent early in the session.

In contrast some sectors opened in negative territory with banks and financial services down 0.17 percent. Real estate fell 0.22 percent and transportation declined 0.39 percent according to the same reporting. Turnover by 10 a.m. stood at 57.374 million riyals with 24.364 million shares traded in 3,182 deals.

The performance takes place against a regional backdrop in which the Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf reported trading value across GCC stock markets of approximately $618 billion in the prior year with total market capitalisation at $3.9 trillion. A total of 779 companies were listed on these markets according to the centre’s data released on Sunday. The latest QSE session contributes to ongoing activity in one of the region’s more established bourses.
