The Ministry of Transport announced that Qatar wrapped up its role in the 15th edition of InnoTrans in Berlin on September 25 after four days of engagement at the global transport technology fair. Engineer Abdullah bin Seif Al-Sulaiti, the assistant undersecretary for land transport affairs, held separate bilateral meetings with delegations from Deutsche Bahn led by Stefan Gaebel, the Italian FS Group under Luigi Corradi and Aegis. Discussions centred on opportunities to boost cooperation in intelligent and sustainable transport along with rail infrastructure development and the exchange of expertise in related technologies, the Qatar News Agency reported.

A Ministry of Transport overview of the national pavilion outlined the 2025-2030 strategy that seeks to build an integrated, secure, resilient and sustainable transport network in line with the third National Development Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030. The exhibit presented the autonomous vehicle strategy together with results from electric Robotaxi trials that achieved a 94 percent success rate without human interference. Additional displays covered the plan for a completely electric public bus fleet by 2030, supporting infrastructure including depots and clean energy facilities, and the Public Transport Master Plan intended to connect transport modes while cutting reliance on private cars and lowering emissions.

Qatar Rail signed a strategic partnership agreement with DB Engineering and Consulting, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn, during the exhibition, the company said in a statement. The accord targets engineering, consulting and project management services for railway infrastructure and transport systems. Jassim Mohammed Al-Ansari, chief executive of Qatar Rail, said in the announcement that the agreement marks a new step in collaboration and reflects commitment to strategic partnerships that allow knowledge exchange and access to worldwide specialised expertise.

Al-Ansari added that participation in InnoTrans 2026 inside the unified Qatar transport pavilion highlights progress toward a modern, integrated and sustainable public transport system. The event offered an important platform to interact with sector leaders, examine innovations in smart mobility, safety and maintenance, and review partnerships that reinforce Qatar’s place on the global transport map. A Qatar Rail team also met with Hitachi Rail to study rail innovations, including a high-speed train tour and artificial intelligence uses in operations and maintenance.

The Doha Metro and Lusail Tram featured among the projects presented at the pavilion, with Qatar Rail figures showing the metro has exceeded 300 million passengers since operations began. This passenger volume demonstrates strong public demand, operational efficiency and a shift toward more sustainable transport. The overall participation aimed to strengthen Qatar’s international profile in smart and sustainable mobility while aligning with the latest industry technologies under Qatar National Vision 2030.

Messe Berlin reported that InnoTrans 2026 attracted 175000 trade visitors from more than 120 countries and featured 3190 exhibitors from 59 countries along with 750 first-time exhibitors. The fair brought together transport ministers, rail operators and manufacturers from around the world at the Messe Berlin grounds. Qatar’s delegation also attended the opening ceremony featuring the German federal minister of transport and the European Union commissioner for sustainable transport and tourism.
