The UAE Cybersecurity Council and Veeam Software announced a partnership on October 2 through a press release distributed via Zawya to strengthen cyber resilience, support capacity building and accelerate the adoption of trusted data and AI-ready security practices across the United Arab Emirates. The agreement backs the Council’s objectives of promoting national cyber readiness, knowledge sharing, skills development and operational resilience. It creates a cooperation framework covering cybersecurity training, technical exercises, resilience preparedness, research and development as well as strategic stakeholder engagement.
Areas of joint work will feature workshops, training programmes, technical working sessions, practical exercises and the exchange of expertise alongside best practices in information security and resilience, according to the release. The partnership will feed directly into the Council’s Centre of Excellence by adding Veeam-led training and certification programs, executive briefings, technical workshops and recovery exercises. Additional elements include role-based learning pathways, simulation environments, practitioner programs and focused initiatives on data governance for public and private sector entities.
His Excellency Dr Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, said in the announcement, “The UAE remains committed to building a secure, resilient and future-ready digital ecosystem. Our partnership with Veeam reflects the importance of trusted public-private collaboration in strengthening national cyber resilience, advancing cyber recovery capabilities and supporting the secure adoption of AI and digital technologies. Together, we will contribute to practical skills development, stronger organisational readiness and a more resilient digital future for the UAE.”
Amin Hanania, regional director for the Middle East and CIS at Veeam, stated in the release that the UAE continues to establish itself as a pioneering model in leadership and innovation in the field of cybersecurity at the regional level. The executive added that the collaboration would help organisations better prepare for, respond to and recover from cyber incidents through targeted capability building. Such efforts align with the Council’s emphasis on practical, hands-on development across emerging technologies.
The agreement forms part of a wider series of collaborations pursued by the Council during 2026. In May, the Council signed separate partnerships with Siemens to advance operational technology cybersecurity, with IBM on trusted AI and governance, and with the Advanced Technology Research Council and Dragos on post-quantum cybersecurity and industrial protection during the Make it in the Emirates exhibition, ITP.net reported. These initiatives collectively aim to reinforce the UAE’s position through sustained public-private engagement on evolving digital threats.
Veeam, positioned as the Data and AI Trust Company, brings its portfolio of data security and backup solutions to the effort, complementing the Council’s national strategy. The combined programme will prioritise knowledge transfer that equips both government and commercial entities with updated tools for cyber incident management. Officials expect the framework to yield measurable gains in workforce preparedness and organisational resilience over the coming years.
