Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding Company posted a net loss of QR 427.85 million in the first nine months of 2026 compared with a net profit of QR 519.68 million a year earlier, according to data the company published via the Qatar Stock Exchange. Loss per share reached QR 0.034 against earnings per share of QR 0.041 in the 2025 period. The holding company, which derives most of its results from stakes in Q-Chem, Q-Chem II and Qatar Vinyl Company, saw both its petrochemical and chlor-alkali segments swing to losses as regional conflict persisted.

Ongoing logistical disruptions from the conflict reduced production and sales volumes across segments, a factor that Al-Watan attributed as the main driver of the profitability decline. Revenues fell approximately 65 percent to QR 725 million while sales volumes dropped 65 percent to 307,000 tonnes, with average selling prices also declining modestly. The impact was partly offset by the introduction of higher-value PVC products that improved margins in the chlor-alkali segment despite fixed operating costs remaining elevated to ensure safety and reliability.

By the end of June 2026 the company had already accumulated a net loss of QR 183 million against a QR 379 million profit in the first half of 2025, according to a Quartr summary of its interim results. The third quarter added a further QR 245 million loss as sales volumes continued to contract sharply. These outcomes reflect production adjustments made in response to the external pressures that began affecting operations late in the prior year.

Cash and bank balances stood at QR 3.2 billion as of the middle of 2026, down modestly after dividend distributions and PVC project spending but still providing a solid liquidity position that earlier reports described as robust. The company has maintained investments in its joint ventures at around QR 13.45 billion, demonstrating continuity in its core holdings even amid the downturn. Fixed costs continued as the group prioritised operational integrity over volume reductions.

Broader petrochemical markets faced headwinds from global overcapacity and subdued demand that kept average prices under pressure throughout the period, a pattern consistent with 2025 when the company recorded a full-year net profit of QR 533 million. Mesaieed expects to complete the ramp-up of its PVC project by the end of 2027, which should enhance product mix in coming years. Management has indicated it will continue aligning output with market conditions while monitoring the evolving regional situation.
