Wall Street closed higher on Wednesday after quarterly results from SpaceX and Super Micro Computer improved investor appetite for artificial intelligence-related stocks while weakness in communication services capped the broader advance, according to Reuters. The tech-heavy Nasdaq led the way with a 1.05 percent gain to close at 26,702.86. The S&P 500 added 0.58 percent to end at 7,757.17 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.69 percent to 52,856.09 as seven of the 11 primary sectors finished in positive territory.

SpaceX shares surged 7.8 percent after the company reported its first profit as a public company. Elon Musk said following the earnings that a merger of SpaceX and Tesla would be a good idea, which in turn boosted Tesla shares. The positive reports eased some investor concerns over the sustainability of heavy AI spending that had triggered a selloff in related stocks the previous week.

Super Micro Computer jumped 9.6 percent and ranked among the S&P 500’s top gainers after forecasting revenue and profit margins above Wall Street estimates. This outlook lifted peers including HPE which rose 3.7 percent and Dell Technologies which gained 5.3 percent. The moves signaled resilient demand for AI infrastructure even as the sector had faced volatility from worries about returns on data center investments.

Technology climbed 1.61 percent and industrials rose 0.91 percent to lead S&P 500 sector gains while the Philadelphia Semiconductor index advanced 2 percent according to Reuters. Communication services fell 1.33 percent and real estate declined 0.79 percent limiting the session’s upside. The performance reflected a rebound in chip stocks following an eight-session selloff earlier in the month.

The session arrived after last week’s sharp decline in AI-linked names that had centered on data center operator CoreWeave and raised broader questions about capital expenditure profitability. Reassuring corporate updates helped restore some confidence among investors monitoring the sector closely. Additional technology earnings due in coming days are expected to offer further guidance on AI trends.

Easing Treasury yields combined with softer crude oil prices to provide a constructive backdrop for equities during the trading session. The gains left the major indexes showing resilience despite mixed signals from other parts of the economy in recent weeks. Reuters reported that the advances marked a return toward growth-oriented technology shares after a period of caution.
