Waqar Zaka (@waqarzaka) secured first place in the WEEX TradFi Masters, a global solo trading tournament that drew more than 3,000 entrants from around the world, according to details the trader shared on social media. Participants competed remotely using their own capital across stocks, gold, silver, commodities and cryptocurrencies on one platform, with no teams or referrals permitted. Organizers evaluated entrants on adaptability across asset classes and overall profit-and-loss performance during the 20-day contest, which Zaka led from an initial fourth position.
Competition figures show the Pakistani trader generated a 74 percent return by producing $74,000 in profit and lifting his account value to $174,000. South Korean and Chinese competitors placed second and third respectively in the multi-asset event. Zaka improved markedly on his eighth-place finish in a comparable international tournament the previous year.
The victory represents the first time a Pakistani trader has topped such an international multi-asset online trading competition, coverage in ProPakistani reported on July 27. Zaka, a technology entrepreneur and live leverage trader, previously received official recognition from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government as a cryptocurrency expert to advise on blockchain initiatives. Pakistani outlets highlighted how the result renewed focus on his earlier recommendations regarding digital assets.
Zaka has advocated since 2016 for Pakistan to purchase Bitcoin and hold it as a national reserve asset to address debt pressures and reduce reliance on institutions such as the IMF. His public statements on the topic, including television appearances that year, underscored the potential role of cryptocurrencies in strengthening the country’s financial position. Those positions gained fresh attention following the trading success.
In a subsequent Instagram post, Zaka announced plans to sell the 2026 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon to fund initiatives in mathematics and science education. He placed greater emphasis on the competitive ranking than the vehicle itself. “The G Wagon means nothing to me. The ranking does” Zaka stated in the update.
