QIA Reinvests in SambaNova at $11 Billion Valuation | AI-Generated Image

The Qatar Investment Authority announced its participation in SambaNova Systems’ $1 billion Series E financing round alongside General Atlantic, Seligman Ventures, T. Rowe Price Associates, Capital Group and other new and existing investors. This latest commitment follows the sovereign wealth fund’s involvement in the company’s February 2026 raise, underscoring QIA’s sustained interest in cutting-edge artificial intelligence platforms. The Qatar News Agency reported that the investment aligns with the fund’s focus on innovative firms offering differentiated technology, robust commercial momentum and strong prospects for long-term expansion.

SambaNova’s valuation surged from $2 billion to $11 billion in the four months between the two rounds, a jump that reflects intensifying worldwide appetite for advanced AI infrastructure. In a statement, the Qatar Investment Authority said the investment reflects its strategy of identifying high-potential growth-stage opportunities and backing companies with advanced technologies, strong business models and the capacity to generate sustainable long-term value. The round, which General Atlantic led, equips the California-based developer to scale operations at a time when enterprises are accelerating deployment of inference-heavy workloads.

SambaNova Systems supplies a full-stack AI platform that supports high-performance inference for enterprises, cloud providers, research laboratories and service operators globally. Its purpose-built systems are engineered to deliver faster time to value, reduced total cost of ownership and superior efficiency compared with traditional GPU-centric approaches. Tracxn data updated ahead of this round showed the company had already secured roughly $1.5 billion in prior funding across multiple stages since its 2017 founding.

Proceeds from the Series E will finance expanded global deployment capacity, accelerated product innovation and broader investment across chips, systems, software and integrated AI infrastructure. SambaNova plans to address rising demand for inference solutions that power everything from large language models to real-time analytics applications. The funding arrives as the firm strengthens its position in a sector where inference workloads can represent up to 90 percent of overall AI production costs, according to analyses by research firm Sacra.

Qatar Investment Authority, which oversees the Gulf state’s sovereign assets, has progressively increased allocations to technology and growth-oriented ventures as part of portfolio diversification beyond traditional energy holdings. Its repeated backing of SambaNova illustrates confidence in the company’s ability to compete in the rapidly consolidating AI hardware landscape. Industry projections cited in multiple market assessments forecast the global AI infrastructure sector expanding toward $250 billion by 2030, propelled by enterprise adoption and cloud-scale requirements.

The latest capital infusion will also support SambaNova’s efforts to broaden its customer base across international markets while enhancing its hardware-software co-design capabilities. Officials noted that the platform’s architecture enables customers to deploy sophisticated models with greater energy efficiency and lower operational overhead than legacy alternatives. This positions the company to capitalise on demand from sectors ranging from financial services to scientific research that require reliable, scalable AI inference capacity.
