The General Real Estate Regulatory Authority known as Aqarat released data showing that real estate sales contracts in Qatar reached a total value of QR696.5 million during the week ending October 17. This performance marked a 15.6 percent increase from the preceding week although it remained 12.3 percent below the level recorded in the corresponding period last year. A total of 131 contracts were signed in the period according to the authority which noted a 7.1 percent weekly decline and an 11.5 percent annual drop in transaction volume.
Aqarat figures distributed sales value across property types with villas accounting for QR197.6 million or 28.4 percent of the total. Vacant land generated QR190.5 million equivalent to 27.4 percent while residential units contributed QR162.8 million or 23.4 percent. The remaining QR145.6 million or 20.9 percent came from other property categories as the authority detailed the composition of market activity.
Municipalities showed Al Daayen leading sales value at QR239.5 million followed by Doha with QR209.3 million and Al Rayyan at QR170.9 million according to the regulator’s breakdown. These concentrations highlight sustained demand in key urban and suburban zones even amid the weekly contraction in overall deal counts. The authority has consistently published such municipal tallies to illustrate geographic patterns across the Qatari property sector.
On the mortgage side Aqarat recorded 18 contracts valued at QR861.7 million for the week. The total mortgage value surged 652.2 percent from the previous period while falling 36.7 percent year on year with contract numbers declining 33.3 percent week on week and 14.3 percent annually. Such sharp weekly swings in financing activity have appeared in earlier releases from the regulator as it tracks lending tied to real estate deals.
Qatar Central Bank data places the Real Estate Price Index at 234.31 points in March 2026 reflecting an 8 percent annual increase that signals recovering price momentum after earlier corrections. ValuStrat’s residential price index for the first quarter of the year showed a 1.6 percent year-on-year gain with stability in apartment values across major developments. These quarterly trends provide context for the weekly sales fluctuations reported by Aqarat.
The Ministry of Justice Real Estate Registration Department reported that first-quarter 2026 real estate transactions totaled QR9.2 billion marking a 28.5 percent rise from the year-earlier period. Lower interest rates combined with ownership reforms have supported this broader uptick in activity since the post-2022 FIFA World Cup market adjustment. Aqarat’s weekly updates continue to offer detailed snapshots that align with the sector’s gradual return to growth.
