Qatar Tourism said in a statement that the State of Qatar welcomed 2.614 million visitors through its land air and sea ports during the first nine months of 2026. The authority reported that arrivals in September reached 276000 which represented a 1.1 percent increase from the 273000 recorded in September 2025. Qatar Tourism noted that the data reflected a diverse mix of visitors from multiple regions over the January to September period.

According to Qatar Tourism figures GCC countries accounted for 40.9 percent of the total with 1.069 million visitors in the nine months. Asia and Oceania followed with 548000 visitors or 21 percent while Europe contributed 538000 visitors representing 20.6 percent. The Americas supplied 190000 visitors at 7.3 percent other Arab countries 184000 at 7 percent and other African countries 84000 at 3.2 percent.

Qatar Tourism data released in early September had placed the total for the first eight months at 2.338 million visitors. The authority reported that August arrivals rose 6.3 percent to 303000 from 285000 in July with GCC travelers making up 41 percent of the eight-month total. Qatar Tourism attributed the performance to coordinated efforts across government aviation hospitality and tourism entities.

Saad bin Ali Al-Kharji the chairman of Qatar Tourism stated in remarks for World Tourism Day that the sector had shown resilience amid regional challenges and travel disruptions. Al-Kharji said that 2026 had been a year of progress resilience and transformation for Qatar tourism. He added that the future of the sector would be defined by the quality of experiences and the strength of the supporting ecosystem rather than visitor numbers alone.

Qatar Tourism reported that the country received a record 5.1 million visitors in full-year 2025. The authority has indicated that current efforts target levels close to that benchmark for 2026 with longer-term aims of 6.5 million to 7 million visitors by 2030. Hotel occupancy exceeded 60 percent in the first eight months according to separate statements from Qatar Tourism executives.

Qatar Tourism data from prior updates showed that 57 percent of visitors in the first eight months arrived by air. The authority has expanded digital platforms including the Visit Qatar application to support visitor planning and engagement. Al-Kharji noted that Qatar’s designation as GCC Tourism Capital for 2026 had advanced joint promotion and a more integrated regional tourism framework.
