Over the past month the benchmark has dropped 1.80 percent while it stands 14.86 percent lower than its level a year earlier. A weekly market report from QNB Financial Services placed the QSE’s year-to-date performance at a decline of 10 percent as of mid-August with market capitalization at QR 581.6 billion. The report highlighted mixed sectoral movements with insurance showing resilience. This context underscores the market’s recovery attempts in the current quarter according to the QNB document.

Analyst Mubarak Al Tamimi told Qatar News Agency in a recent interview that the index was approaching a key support level around 9532 points where buying interest could emerge. He noted that holding above this zone might signal a potential rebound in subsequent trading. The current opening aligns with such expectations for renewed demand Al Tamimi added.

Qatar’s stock market has historically shown correlation with energy prices given the country’s role as a major liquefied natural gas exporter according to industry assessments. Brent crude was recently trading around 98 dollars per barrel data from Trading Economics revealed. Observers will monitor whether sustained gains materialize as the week progresses.
