Qatar News Agency reported that three sectors posted gains in the opening minutes of Tuesday trading. The telecoms sector climbed 0.61 percent to lead the advances. Transportation followed with a 0.32 percent rise while industrials added 0.21 percent. QSE data cited in the release showed the movements lifted the overall index by 0.10 percent at the open.
Four sectors registered declines during the same period, the agency detailed. Real estate slipped 0.15 percent and consumer goods and services eased 0.16 percent. Banks and financial services fell 0.18 percent while insurance dropped 1.47 percent. These offsets limited the broader market advance in early deals.
Trading value reached QR 46.215 million by 10:00 a.m. local time, QSE figures published by Qatar News Agency indicated. A total of 25.203 million shares changed hands across 2,666 transactions in that window. The activity reflected selective participation across listed companies on the exchange.
The session followed a downward move the previous day when the index lost 6.77 points to close at 9,681, a Peninsula Qatar dispatch from August 24 stated. Transportation and banks and financial services recorded gains on that Monday while five other sectors closed lower. Trading volume then stood at QR 50.649 million with 29.126 million shares exchanged in 2,689 deals.
CEIC Data placed the equity market index at 9,920.7 for July 2026 before the latest fluctuations. Countryeconomy.com statistics show the benchmark has declined 14.36 percent year to date as of mid-August. A separate MENAFN report from the prior week put market capitalization near QR 583 billion following recent closes.

The platform recorded a 3.18 percent monthly decline and a 14.24 percent yearly fall at that point. The benchmark remains well below its all-time high of 14,931 points registered in April 2022 according to the same source.
