Huawei unveiled the Pura 90s Series at a global flagship product launch event in Kuala Lumpur on July 14 before detailing its UAE availability six days later. The company said in a press release that the devices harness advanced 5.5G technology to deliver faster network speeds, lower latency and more stable connections. This performance extends to traditionally difficult coverage zones including deserts, underground locations, lifts, tunnels and enclosed spaces where signal reliability often falters. The release positioned the series as an example of how smartphones can capitalise on the UAE’s advanced telecommunications infrastructure for everyday resilience.
Huawei’s announcement highlighted the Pura 90s Pro Max as redefining telephoto imaging by equipping it with a 200MP RYYB camera and an industry-leading 1 over 1.28-inch sensor. The system incorporates CIPA 7.0 image stabilisation to maintain sharpness during distant shots or in motion. It further supports ultra-clear 20x telephoto video through chip-level 200MP RAW real-time processing that preserves detail and stability at range. The primary camera uses a matching 1 over 1.28-inch RYYB sensor paired with 16EV Ultra Lighting HDR technology for superior performance across lighting conditions.
According to the company’s release, both the Pura 90s Pro Max and Pura 90s Pro models feature an upgraded True-to-Colour Camera 2.0 that improves colour accuracy by 43 percent. The handsets include an enhanced AI Composition tool offering intelligent framing references, on-screen suggestions and visual guides to assist users in capturing balanced images. Colour finishes draw inspiration from natural environments and atmospheric moments to create distinctive gradient options that reflect light and movement in sophisticated ways.
The press release described a flat-edged display design paired with new Anti-Reflection and Scratch-Resistant Kunlun Glass that cuts reflections by up to 70 percent for improved outdoor visibility. Huawei integrated its Celia voice assistant to enable natural language control over system functions, applications, settings and content capture without manual input. The assistant also serves as an on-device knowledge resource for weather checks, travel advice, message drafting and document formatting to streamline daily routines.
A 6,000 mAh battery powers the Pura 90s Pro Max with support for 100W wired SuperCharge and rapid wireless SuperCharge to minimise downtime, the company stated. The July 14 event in Malaysia also introduced the HUAWEI FreeClip 2 S earbuds and HUAWEI MatePad Air tablet as part of a broader all-scenario innovation portfolio. Huawei framed the Pura 90s Series as centring on expression, style and creativity through its imaging and connectivity upgrades tailored for modern mobile demands.
The UAE rollout follows the global debut by less than a week and aligns with the country’s ongoing expansion of next-generation network services.
