Aldar Properties said in a statement that it generated Dh1.5 billion in sales during the launch of The Canopies, a six-building apartment community at Yas Point on the northern shore of Yas Island. The developer reported that the results reflect continued appetite for residential units on Yas Island and the overall strength of Abu Dhabi’s property sector. First-time Aldar buyers represented 84 per cent of customers for the project, which offers a park-centred layout and access to the island’s established lifestyle amenities.
Figures from the company show that UAE nationals made up 40 per cent of purchasers while expatriate residents and overseas buyers accounted for the remaining 60 per cent. Purchasers from the United Kingdom, India and Egypt ranked among the top nationalities by sales volume. The breakdown further indicated that female buyers comprised 32 per cent of the total and 47 per cent of all buyers were under the age of 45.
The Canopies constitutes the first residential community to launch within Yas Point, which Aldar unveiled in July 2026 as a mixed-use waterfront destination with a gross development value of AED 6 billion. The project comprises 592 apartments across six mid-rise buildings set in a nature-inspired environment according to details published on the developer’s website. Aldar’s earlier announcement positioned Yas Point as a vibrant northern peninsula that integrates residential offerings with leisure and entertainment facilities already present on the island.
Following the initial launch success Aldar stated that additional homes from the Yas Point masterplan will be released in the second half of 2026. The company has described the community as delivering nature-focused living with direct connections to Yas Island’s attractions. This next phase of releases forms part of the broader rollout outlined in the developer’s July 2026 masterplan disclosure.
In an earlier project on the same island Aldar reported selling out its Yas Living development within days of launch and generating more than Dh1.3 billion in sales according to the company’s October 2025 announcement. Yas Island has attracted consistent residential interest owing to its proximity to theme parks, golf courses and other recreational venues. Aldar’s ongoing developments in the area continue to draw a mix of local, regional and international purchasers seeking both primary residences and investment properties.
