The Sharjah Digital Department reported that customers completed more than 2.65 million transactions on the Sharjah Digital Platform in the first half of 2026. This marked a 102 percent increase from the same period a year earlier. The total value of those transactions exceeded AED 514 million, already surpassing the entire amount recorded for all of 2025.
Figures from the department placed the number of government entities linked to the platform at 62. The number of available digital services climbed to 155 after officials added 33 new options during the six-month period. Active users reached approximately 290,000 while total registered users topped 546,000.
The Sharjah Digital app saw downloads surge to more than 249,000 in the period, a 210 percent increase year on year. Artificial intelligence-powered services drew 19,014 users for their transactions, reflecting a 110 percent rise from the prior year. The department expanded the knowledge base of its Digital Assistant to encompass more than 200 government websites to boost response accuracy.
According to the Sharjah Executive Council, the underlying Digital Transformation Strategy 2026-2028 received approval in November 2025. The plan encompasses five core domains supported by more than 50 initiatives focused on government integration, user-centric services and artificial intelligence applications. A related announcement highlighted how these efforts aim to create secure shared systems for effective operations.
Lamia Al Hassan Al Shamsi, director of the Sharjah Digital Department, described the first-half performance as evidence of the strategy’s early impact. “The indicators recorded in the first half of 2026 reflect tangible results of implementing the Sharjah Digital Transformation Strategy 2026-2028, which aims to build an integrated government system, develop customer-centric digital services, and leverage data and artificial intelligence to enhance government performance,” Al Shamsi said. She noted that the outcomes demonstrate growing customer confidence in the digital offerings.
In the statement, Al Shamsi pointed to the positive effects of technology adoption on service delivery. “These results reflect customers’ growing confidence in digital services and underscore the positive impact of integrating government efforts and adopting modern technologies to simplify the customer journey and improve service quality,” she said. The department’s data indicated continued development of the platform to align with the strategy’s goals.
