QSE Index Rises Led by Insurance | AI-Generated Image

According to Qatar News Agency, five of the seven sectors posted gains in early trading on the Qatar Stock Exchange on Tuesday, led by a 1.10 percent advance in insurance. Consumer goods and services rose 0.72 percent, industrials climbed 0.48 percent, real estate gained 0.32 percent and banks and financial services were up 0.17 percent. Telecommunications slipped 0.07 percent while transportation fell 0.31 percent.

The agency said turnover reached 205.622 million riyals by 10:00 a.m. with 152.643 million shares traded across 3,149 transactions. This activity comes after the index closed the previous session at 9,785.73 points following a gain of 51.97 points or 0.53 percent. Market capitalization had increased to more than 589 billion riyals at Monday’s close, figures from the exchange show.

The Qatar Stock Exchange announced in August 2026 that its September quarterly index review would leave the constituents of the QE Index, the QE Al Rayan Islamic Index and the QE All Share Index unchanged, according to a statement published on its website. This stability follows a period in which the benchmark has faced downward pressure, with Trading Economics data showing a year-to-date decline of roughly 11.6 percent as of early September. The index hit a recent high near 10,300 points in June before easing in subsequent months.

Recent trading sessions have seen fluctuating volumes, with Monday’s full day turnover totaling 287 million riyals across nearly 20,000 transactions, the exchange reported. Twenty companies advanced in price on Monday while 27 declined and seven remained unchanged. Such patterns reflect ongoing investor activity amid broader economic indicators.

Qatar’s equity market forms part of the wider GCC investment landscape where bourses have registered mixed results this year. The quarterly review process ensures indices accurately reflect market dynamics, the QSE has stated in prior announcements. No modifications were implemented from the September 1 effective date.

National Planning Council figures show Qatar’s inflation rate at 2.21 percent in June while the Qatar Central Bank has held its key lending rate steady at 4.35 percent. These metrics provide context for listed companies in banking, energy and real estate that dominate the QSE. The central bank’s policy aligns with efforts to support economic stability in the non-hydrocarbon sectors.
