QCB Governor Reviews Global Investment Landscape | AI-Generated Image

The Qatar News Agency reported that Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saoud Al Thani held the meetings with senior officials from several global financial firms. The discussions examined prominent developments in international finance and investment fields. Sheikh Bandar also serves as chairman of the Qatar Investment Authority. The sessions took place as part of the governor’s ongoing international engagements.

Sheikh Bandar represented Qatar at the 87th meeting of the Committee of Governors of Central Banks of the Gulf Cooperation Council held in Manama on September 14, a MENAFN report stated. That gathering included the 23rd meeting of the Board of Directors of the Gulf Payments Company and the 66th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Gulf Monetary Council. Participants addressed multiple topics and issued related decisions during the sessions.

The GCC Secretary General noted that the banking sector in member states has preserved its strength and stability despite current conditions, supported by advanced regulatory frameworks. Commercial bank deposits across the bloc rose 6 percent by the end of June 2026 compared with the end of 2025 to reach approximately 2.45 trillion dollars, according to the same statement. These regional indicators align with Qatar’s own stable monetary position maintained by the central bank.

Sheikh Bandar has conducted comparable meetings throughout 2026 with executives from institutions such as JP Morgan Chase, Blackstone and the Carlyle Group, Qatar Central Bank statements show. Those encounters similarly focused on global financial and investment updates. The latest discussions follow the same format of targeted bilateral exchanges.

Qatar participated in the 76th meeting of the Committee of Undersecretaries of Ministries of Finance of the GCC states via videoconference on September 16, according to a separate QNA dispatch. That session reviewed outcomes from the central bank governors committee along with customs union and tax department meetings. Coordination among member states remains a central theme in these forums.

The governor’s international meetings occur against a backdrop of sustained activity in Qatar’s financial sector, central bank data indicates. Local banks have continued to expand operations while adhering to strict regulatory standards set by the authority. Such engagements allow for direct exchange on emerging trends affecting both national and global markets.
