The Emirates News Agency reported that a delegation of leading Chinese women entrepreneurs wrapped up its visit to the UAE after two weeks of meetings and field tours across multiple emirates that were jointly organised by the General Women’s Union and the UAE Embassy in Beijing. Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi the Secretary-General of the General Women’s Union affirmed that the trip reflected the depth of the strategic partnership between the UAE and China. Al Suwaidi added that the programme followed directives from Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak and aimed to empower women while building international economic leadership. The visit created platforms for sustainable cooperation that support development and innovation in both countries.
According to the Emirates News Agency the delegation represented companies and business groups with combined annual revenues of around 4.85 billion yuan spanning sectors that include industry hospitality food security biotechnology infrastructure new energy smart lighting and investment services. Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi explained that the entrepreneurs were selected for their significant economic weight and diverse expertise. The programme sought to move beyond simple exchanges toward direct economic ties that could evolve into partnerships investments and joint ventures. Such engagements align with the national vision of expanding women’s roles in global commerce.
The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the General Women’s Union hosted the Sharjah-China Businesswomen Forum as a key stop on the itinerary a WAM dispatch stated. Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi assistant director-general for communication and business sector at the chamber noted that the event strengthened economic ties against the backdrop of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. Discussions centred on expanding investment opportunities for women entrepreneurs and integrating them into global value chains with emphasis on technology and innovation. B2B meetings during the forum explored potential joint ventures and cross-border collaborations.
China remains the UAE’s largest trading partner accounting for around 11 percent of the country’s total non-oil trade a WAM assessment found. Gulf News data shows that non-oil trade between the two nations surpassed 100 billion dollars for the first time in 2025 reaching 111.5 billion dollars after 24.5 percent growth. Nearly 16 000 Chinese companies operate in the UAE according to the Ministry of Investment. The women-focused visit builds on earlier 2026 initiatives that included the signing of 24 major agreements to deepen collaboration across investment finance and technology.
The UAE Ministry of Investment and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade signed a memorandum in September 2026 to establish a business advisory committee an Aletihad report indicated. Mohammad Abdulrahman Alhawi the undersecretary at the ministry described the committee as a platform that connects companies from both sides to identify opportunities and pursue partnerships. The committee facilitates regular dialogue information exchange and matchmaking between UAE and Chinese businesses. This framework complements the outcomes of the delegation’s engagements by providing structured follow-up for women-led initiatives.
Emirates News Agency figures place the delegation’s activities within a broader pattern of women-focused diplomacy that has gained momentum since the launch of the UAE-China Businesswomen Council in late 2025. The council serves as an institutional platform to enhance the role of women entrepreneurs in bilateral economic activity. A separate WAM report placed businesswomen at 18 percent of all entrepreneurs in the UAE with the majority of women-owned businesses led by those under the age of 40. These steps are expected to translate high-level ties into tangible commercial outcomes for women-led enterprises on both sides.
