PwC’s 2026 AI Jobs Barometer placed the UAE among the fastest-growing AI talent markets worldwide ahead of the United States the United Kingdom Germany and France. The analysis of more than one billion global job postings found that the share of UAE listings requiring AI skills expanded from 1.0 percent in 2021 to 3.2 percent in 2025. This increase more than tripled demand for such expertise while AI adoption spread across every sector with technology media and telecommunications leading at nearly 10 percent of postings. The report further noted that AI-exposed occupations now demand an average of 77 additional skills compared with 22 in less exposed roles underscoring the pace of workforce transformation.

Coursera’s Global Skills Report 2026 ranked the UAE sixth globally and first in the Middle East and North Africa on its newly introduced AI-Human Skills Synergy Index. The assessment reviewed learners in 98 countries and measured the combination of AI capabilities with essential human skills such as critical thinking and complex problem-solving against each nation’s overall AI readiness. Enrollments in AI courses within the UAE rose 75 percent year on year while generative AI enrollments climbed 117 percent and agentic AI workflows increased 100 percent. The Coursera data also recorded a 101 percent jump in AI-related micro-credentials as professionals sought to validate targeted competencies.

The PwC assessment determined that financial services offered the highest wage premium for AI skills within the UAE while energy and professional services accounted for the largest overall shares of AI hiring activity. Occupations most exposed to AI have seen the fastest expansion in required skills with entry-level roles increasingly demanding leadership and strategic thinking traditionally associated with senior positions. These seniorised junior roles have grown 35 percent since 2019 even as other entry-level opportunities have contracted according to the barometer.

At the Ru’ya career fair held this week at Dubai World Trade Centre students and employers alike identified AI knowledge as an emerging advantage in recruitment alongside conventional academic qualifications according to a report by The National. Dubai Municipality which participated in the event reported that it now factors AI skills into hiring decisions although the authority stopped short of making such expertise mandatory for every position. The municipality has integrated AI tools directly into its application process at the fair allowing candidates to interact with the technology while submitting interest in engineering data analysis and related fields.

LinkedIn’s UAE Economic Graph Report 2026 prepared in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Trade positioned the country second globally for attracting AI talent relative to population size. The same study found the UAE ranked first worldwide in fintech skills concentration with technology media professional services and manufacturing showing the highest levels of digital competencies overall. Hiring activity recovered from early 2026 volatility and remained above 2019 levels in several sectors including real estate education and healthcare the LinkedIn figures showed.

Both the PwC and Coursera reports highlighted the importance of pairing AI technical proficiency with human-centric abilities such as judgment ethics and creativity that employers actively seek to complement automated systems. The Coursera analysis noted that critical thinking had emerged as the top human skill sought by learners while interest in specialised AI areas including security infrastructure and personalisation continued to expand. These parallel trends indicate that the UAE labour market is prioritising versatile professionals capable of overseeing and enhancing AI applications rather than replacing core decision-making functions.
