WAM reported that Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer received the high-level World Economic Forum delegation led by Alois Zwinggi, president and CEO of the forum and chair of the annual meetings of the Global Future Councils. The meeting focused on potential collaboration across sustainability initiatives, technology deployment and broader economic advancement. Attendees from the authority included Marwan bin Haidar, executive vice president of innovation and the future, and Waleed bin Salman, executive vice president of business development and excellence.

Al Tayer detailed the authority’s progress on major clean energy schemes together with its digital transformation drive and integration of artificial intelligence alongside Fourth Industrial Revolution tools. He reviewed the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, both of which target full reliance on clean energy sources by 2050. The authority’s longstanding partnership with the forum dates to 2018 when it became the first government utility worldwide to join the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution as a partner, according to the WAM dispatch.

Central among the projects Al Tayer presented is the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which DEWA data identifies as the world’s largest single-site solar facility developed under the independent power producer model. Its planned capacity will surpass 8,000 megawatts by 2030, an increase from the earlier 5,000-megawatt target. The expansion is projected to cut carbon emissions by more than 8.5 million tonnes each year, up from an initial forecast of 6.5 million tonnes, the authority’s briefing indicated.

The authority has embedded artificial intelligence across its operations for the past decade to lift efficiency and customer service standards, Al Tayer told the delegation. Such steps form part of wider efforts to align with national directives for innovation and sustainability leadership. DEWA figures show the solar park already contributes substantially to current clean energy output while supporting the emirate’s ambition to become a global hub for green technology.

WAM noted that the discussions occurred against the backdrop of the forum’s preparations for its 2027 annual meeting in Davos, where sustainability and Fourth Industrial Revolution themes are expected to feature prominently. The authority has consistently positioned itself at the intersection of energy transition and technological advancement through its various initiatives. Regional benchmarks from the International Renewable Energy Agency place the UAE among leaders in per-capita renewable capacity growth within the Gulf, a trajectory that DEWA projects continue to reinforce.

Al Tayer reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to the established partnership framework with the World Economic Forum during the session. The exchange is expected to yield further joint work on emerging technologies and long-term strategic planning. DEWA’s participation in forum platforms has previously contributed to global dialogues on utility-scale innovation and sustainable infrastructure models.
