Air Arabia said in a press release that the new daily non-stop service between Sharjah and Düsseldorf will commence on December 16, 2026, and will utilise Airbus A320neo aircraft selected for their modern cabin experience along with gains in operational efficiency and fuel performance. The addition positions Düsseldorf as the third German destination served directly from Sharjah after Munich and Frankfurt, forming part of a deliberate build-out of the carrier’s European footprint that has accelerated through 2026. An analysis published by Air Service One in July 2026 placed the wider Air Arabia Group’s European network at 69 routes spanning 14 countries, underscoring the momentum behind the latest announcement.
The latest connection aligns with several other European additions the airline has introduced this year, including services to London Gatwick that began in March, daily flights to Rome that started in July and new links to Polish cities such as Katowice and Gdansk. Air Arabia’s statement positioned the Düsseldorf route as a further step in broadening access between the UAE and key European markets while maintaining a focus on affordable fares. The carrier operates a fleet composed entirely of Airbus A320-family aircraft across its multiple hubs.
Adel Al Ali, group chief executive officer of Air Arabia, said in the statement that the launch of the new daily service to Düsseldorf marks another important milestone in the expansion of the airline’s European network and further strengthens connectivity between the United Arab Emirates and Germany. “With three destinations now served non-stop from Sharjah, we continue to enhance connectivity between the UAE and Germany while offering our customers greater choice, convenience, and affordable travel,” Al Ali stated. “Our focus remains on expanding our network and delivering reliable, value-driven travel,” he added.
Lars Redeligx, CEO of Düsseldorf Airport, said the airline’s arrival would reinforce existing ties between the German region and the Gulf. “We are very pleased to welcome Air Arabia to Düsseldorf,” Redeligx stated according to the release. “Connections to the Middle East and the Gulf region have been an important part of our international network for many years.” The new daily service to Sharjah will further strengthen those links, he noted.
Redeligx added that travellers from North Rhine-Westphalia and neighbouring regions in the Netherlands will also benefit from Air Arabia’s extensive network across the Middle East, South Asia and Southeast Asia. The European destinations already served from Sharjah include Milan Bergamo, Vienna, Athens, Prague, Krakow, Warsaw Chopin, London Gatwick, Rome, Katowice and Gdansk in addition to the three German cities. The schedule will feature varying departure times depending on the day of the week.
The Düsseldorf announcement follows Air Arabia’s disclosure of first-half 2026 financial results two weeks earlier. The carrier reported net profit of AED 374 million for the six months to June 30 despite a 51 per cent year-on-year decline attributed to regional conflict that reduced flight capacity and drove fuel prices higher, according to its earnings statement. The airline carried more than 8.7 million passengers across its hubs during the period while maintaining an average seat load factor of 83 per cent.
