Dubai Chamber of Commerce one of three entities under Dubai Chambers announced the creation of the Uzbekistan Business Council during an inaugural meeting held at the group’s headquarters on August 26 2026. The new platform seeks to deepen ties between the business communities of Dubai and Uzbekistan while supporting expanded trade investment and cross-sector collaboration. According to the announcement participants examined avenues for generating fresh commercial prospects advancing reciprocal investments and reinforcing links among enterprises from both sides. Discussions further addressed mechanisms for sharing expertise and information together with plans for joint business gatherings.
Maha Al Gargawi vice president of business advocacy at Dubai Chambers said in the statement “The launch of the Uzbekistan Business Council creates an important platform for strengthening trade and investment partnerships between Dubai and Uzbekistan. It will play a key role in creating new avenues for bilateral cooperation across diverse sectors contributing to economic growth and the development of sustainable long-term partnerships between the business communities in both markets.” Ulugbekhon Maksumov who serves as chairman of the Uzbekistan Business Council in Dubai and founder and CEO of Aksum Group described the step as a significant point in relations between the two countries. Maksumov added that the council establishes a functional space for entrepreneurs to link with reliable associates investors to uncover prospects and firms to expand jointly.
Dubai Chambers figures show non-oil trade between Dubai and Uzbekistan totalled Dh10.3 billion in 2025. The data further places the count of active Uzbek companies registered as members at 826 for that year after a 21.3 percent annual rise. The chamber recorded 75 additional Uzbek companies joining during the first half of 2026 alone according to the same statistics.
The establishment of the council follows a series of earlier steps to broaden economic links. A business seminar convened by Dubai Chambers in June 2025 drew roughly 100 participants and reviewed collaboration in trade and investment according to records from that gathering. Data presented at the time indicated non-oil trade had expanded 66 percent in 2024 to surpass Dh11.1 billion while active Uzbek member companies exceeded 700 with a 34.5 percent yearly increase that year.
Business councils of this nature have helped Dubai Chambers facilitate connections with partner markets in past initiatives. A 2023 trade mission to Uzbekistan organised by the chamber produced more than 150 B2B meetings and a forum attended by over 230 people including senior officials and investors WAM reported at the time. Those engagements contributed to a near-doubling in the number of Uzbek firms registered with the chamber between 2016 and 2022 according to figures cited in mission summaries.
Ulugbekhon Maksumov said in the announcement “Today marks an important milestone in the growing relationship between Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates. We are not simply launching another business organisation – we are creating a practical platform where entrepreneurs can connect with trusted partners investors can discover new opportunities and companies from both countries can grow together. Together we will build stronger business bridges between Uzbekistan and the UAE and contribute to the continued growth of trade and investment.” The council’s formation aligns with sustained efforts to organise bilateral activities that bring together private-sector players from the two economies.
