Qatar Bourse Index Slips 15.20 Points | AI-Generated Image

Qatar News Agency reported that the QSE general index dropped 15.20 points, or 0.15 percent, at the start of Thursday’s trading to reach 10,051 points. The benchmark came under pressure from five sectors with real estate declining 0.39 percent, industrials falling 0.21 percent and telecoms easing 0.16 percent. Banks and financial services lost 0.14 percent while transportation slipped 0.03 percent, the agency added in its market update.

According to the same Qatar News Agency data, the insurance sector rose 0.24 percent and consumer goods and services gained 0.23 percent in the opening minutes. Market turnover at 10:00 a.m. reached QR 44.896 million across 3,583 transactions that exchanged 20.803 million shares. The figures illustrate early selective interest among investors on the bourse.

Qatar Exchange figures indicate the index had closed the previous session near 10,066 points before the latest opening decline. The benchmark rose 0.23 percent on July 21 to finish at 10,107.36 after a 1.30 percent advance the day before. Such day-to-day shifts highlight continued volatility in Qatari equities during 2026.

Trading Economics data places the QE index down around 6 percent year to date as of mid-July while monthly losses have approached 4 percent in recent periods. The index has fluctuated between roughly 9,950 and 10,250 points over the past several weeks. Historical records from the exchange show the benchmark has ranged from under 10,000 to more than 14,900 points since 1998.

A Trading Economics assessment found that Qatar’s inflation slowed to 2.20 percent in the latest readings. The metric coincides with ongoing activity in consumer goods and services listings on the QSE. Authorities have pursued economic diversification initiatives that include deepening the capital markets role.

Qatar Stock Exchange reports from prior sessions showed average daily volumes often exceeding 80 million shares during active weeks earlier in the month. The platform lists major companies across banking, industrials and real estate that together form a substantial portion of market capitalization. Officials continue to introduce measures aimed at boosting liquidity and foreign participation in line with long-term financial sector goals.
