The Federal Tax Authority announced that 407 Emirati women account for 87 percent of its total female workforce with those figures released in a statement tied to Emirati Women’s Day. Of the 407 a total of 332 or 82 percent are young Emirati women who represent 93 percent of all young female employees at the authority. Women overall make up 51 percent of the FTA’s workforce and the authority has appointed 50 new Emirati women so far in 2026 representing half of all new hires according to the statement.
Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Mulla the director general of the FTA stated that empowering women is an established approach inspired by the vision of the UAE leadership. He added that the authority has translated that vision into opportunities for leadership innovation and participation in shaping the future of the tax system. Al Mulla affirmed that Emirati women have demonstrated their competence in the tax sector and contributed effectively to developing the tax system and enhancing its sustainability the statement said.
A total of 330 Emirati women work in specialised and professional roles at the authority while 60 hold executive positions and 13 serve in supervisory and leadership posts according to the FTA. Those numbers reflect the authority’s confidence in their capabilities across taxation and related fields. The statement emphasised that the presence of Emirati women at all levels supports their long-term advancement and strengthens their role in national development across social economic and political areas.
The FTA Women’s Committee has organised a programme of initiatives and activities running from August 28 to September 28 2026 to celebrate the achievements of Emirati women. The events highlight distinguished national female figures in the tax sector and their contributions to the UAE’s development journey the authority said. Such programmes form part of ongoing efforts to maintain gender balance as a foundation for broader societal integration.
Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation figures show Emirati women now constitute 71 percent of the national private-sector workforce with more than 123,000 employed there by mid-2026. That total marks a 128 percent rise compared with 2023 and 98 percent of those women hold skilled specialist or technical positions the ministry reported. Emirati women also represent 55 percent of nationals in leadership and executive roles in the private sector.
Similar progress appears in the banking sector where Emirati women account for 76 percent of national employees according to the minister of human resources and Emiratisation. In public entities such as the FTA the dominance of national women in female roles aligns with wider public-sector trends that place women at 66 percent of government workforces according to Grant Thornton UAE data. These gains build on years of policy focus on expanding opportunities for Emirati women across both public and private domains.
