Hamad Obaidalla, chief commercial officer at flydubai, said in the statement, “Since launching our flights to Damascus last summer, we have seen strong demand for travel between Syria and the UAE.” He added, “The resumption of our direct flights to Aleppo builds on this momentum, providing passengers from the UAE and across our growing network with even more travel options during the peak summer season.” Obaidalla described Aleppo as a city of immense historical and commercial significance whose inclusion further strengthens the airline’s presence in this key market.
Arab News reported that the flights mark a resumption of service to Aleppo after a 14-year hiatus. The flydubai statement noted that the route supports travel for business, leisure and family visits while operating under a codeshare with Emirates for broader network access. The carrier’s announcement positioned the Aleppo route within a larger expansion program that recently added Bangkok and Benghazi to its map. Pokhara in Nepal is scheduled to join the network from September 23, 2026, according to the same statement.
