flydubai operated its first daily non-stop flight from Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3 to Aleppo International Airport on July 20, 2026, where the aircraft received a ceremonial water cannon salute followed by an official reception from local authorities. The service marks the Dubai-based low-cost carrier’s second destination in Syria after Damascus and aims to meet demand for business travel, leisure and visits to friends and relatives. According to the airline’s earlier announcement, the route also supports Syrian communities across the UAE and wider GCC region during the peak summer season. The Emirates News Agency reported that the launch further strengthens connectivity between the UAE and Syria.
The resumption comes nearly 14 years after flydubai last served Aleppo, the airline said in a press release issued on July 10, 2026. Since reintroducing flights to Damascus in June 2025, the carrier has expanded that route to three daily services amid strong passenger uptake. The new Aleppo flights operate under a codeshare partnership with Emirates, with departures timed to provide convenient connections.
flydubai’s network has grown to encompass more than 140 destinations served by a fleet of 97 Boeing 737 aircraft, according to company figures. The carrier has transported over 137 million passengers since its launch in 2009. Aleppo joins recent additions including Benghazi in Libya and Bangkok in Thailand, with services to Pokhara in Nepal scheduled to begin on Sept. 23, 2026.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, chief executive officer at flydubai, said in the July 10 announcement, “We are pleased to resume our operations to Aleppo after nearly 14 years of halted operations. The introduction of our daily service to Aleppo marks an important milestone in our network expansion strategy.” The executive highlighted high demand from business travellers, those visiting friends and relatives, and cargo operations. Hamad Obaidalla, chief commercial officer, added that the Damascus route had shown robust interest since its restart last year.
The airline’s announcement noted that Aleppo holds significant historical and commercial importance, positioning the new link to support broader trade and tourism ties between the UAE and Syria. Flight schedules include a departure from Dubai at 11:00 arriving in Aleppo at 13:40, with the return leaving at 14:40 and landing at 19:20. Fares start from AED 1,800 return in economy and AED 8,000 in business class on the outbound, the carrier stated.
WAM indicated that the inaugural event underscored flydubai’s role in expanding options for passengers in an increasingly connected regional aviation market. The resumption aligns with the airline’s strategy of opening previously underserved routes while building on established services to the Syrian capital.
