The World Green Economy Organisation reported that the second day of the 12th World Green Economy Summit on October 22 2026 at the Dubai World Trade Centre placed strong emphasis on the finance pillar with sessions exploring how to boost green investment across regions. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer chairman of the organisation opened a ministerial roundtable titled From Ambition to Bankable Action-Mobilising Green Investments for a Resilient and Inclusive Global Economy. Officials from the UAE and international partners including United Nations representatives joined the discussion to address barriers that prevent promising green initiatives from securing capital at the required scale.

Al Tayer said “From Ambition to Bankable Action captures the defining challenge of the global green transition: converting strong commitments into projects that can attract finance and deliver measurable results.” He noted that governments have adopted strategies climate commitments green economy plans and increasingly clear targets while the urgent task remains to convert them into investable projects effective partnerships and capital at the scale required. A separate participant in the roundtable stressed that bankability extends beyond financial returns to include creation of green jobs opportunities for small businesses and young people and fair distribution of benefits.

The summit agenda for the day featured additional sessions on green finance in the GCC blended finance instruments and the role of Islamic finance in unlocking ethical capital for the green transition according to the World Green Economy Organisation programme. Participants examined the launch of the Arab Government Sustainability Survey 2026 which addresses artificial intelligence and social impact across the Arab world. These discussions built on the summit’s overall theme of moving from successful pilot projects to scaled implementation across multiple sectors.

A Climate Policy Initiative assessment found that at least 6.3 trillion dollars in annual investment will be needed through 2030 to avoid the worst effects of climate change while current levels stand at around 2.3 trillion dollars. The World Economic Forum has reported that companies generating revenues from green markets are seeing those revenues grow twice as fast as those from conventional business lines. London Stock Exchange Group data placed the global green economy above 10 trillion dollars in market capitalisation for the first time underscoring its rapid expansion.

UAE officials at the roundtable reaffirmed the country’s commitment to making climate capital available accessible and affordable particularly for emerging markets and small island developing states in line with agreements reached at COP28. The Directorate of Energy and the World Green Economy Organisation have positioned the annual summit as a platform to showcase UAE milestones including contributions to international climate funds. Such efforts align with broader projections that the green economy will continue expanding as a driver of global growth.

Further sessions on the second day addressed sustainability reporting standards and the integration of artificial intelligence to improve project assessment and capital allocation in green sectors. Organisers from the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and DEWA noted that the event brought together ministers business leaders and experts to identify practical pathways for increasing green finance flows. The gathered discussions produced recommendations on structuring projects that balance returns with measurable environmental and social outcomes.
