Mubadala Investment Company and Embraer announced the signing of a Strategic Framework Agreement that creates a foundation for sustained cooperation across supply chain activities, maintenance repair and overhaul operations, human capital initiatives and joint research efforts. The pact was formalised at the Farnborough International Airshow by Amer Siddiqui, executive director of Mubadala’s UAE Investments Platform, and Dimas Douglas Tomelin, chief strategy and innovation officer at Embraer. In a joint statement the parties noted that the collaboration draws on the UAE’s established aerospace capabilities in aerostructures, advanced materials, MRO and aviation services at a time when global manufacturers are concentrating their supplier relationships on fewer integrated partners.

Workforce development represents one of the agreement’s primary focuses with the two sides scheduled to map out specialised training schemes aimed at strengthening engineering and technical expertise within the UAE. Plans include practical instruction, direct knowledge transfer and work placements for Emirati talent at Embraer facilities to accelerate skill acquisition. The partners will simultaneously coordinate research into future aerostructures incorporating composites, additive manufacturing processes and high-temperature alloys while considering the creation of a jointly operated innovation hub to hasten prototyping and commercial scaling.

According to the announcement Dr Bakheet Al Katheeri, chief executive officer of Mubadala’s UAE Investments Platform, stated, “For two decades, Mubadala’s UAE Investments platform has backed the capabilities the nation must build and own to secure its future, in service of a vision set by our leadership to build an economy defined by resilience and global competitiveness. Aerospace has always been part of that conviction. This agreement with Embraer is a natural extension of it. It connects the depth we have built across our aerospace businesses to one of the industry’s great manufacturers, and it reflects a broader principle that guides everything we do: invest early, build locally, and prepare ahead of need.”

Francisco Gomes Neto, president and chief executive officer of Embraer, said in the statement, “The UAE is a strategic partner for Embraer, and we believe this collaboration presents significant opportunities to advance industrial and technological capabilities in the country and strengthen Embraer content in the country and in the Middle East for future businesses opportunities for Embraer portfolio. By combining our expertise with the UAE’s vision for innovation and growth, we look forward to building a strong and mutually beneficial partnership in the years ahead.” The Brazilian executive’s remarks emphasised the potential for expanded Embraer presence throughout the region via the new relationship.

Sanad, Mubadala’s Abu Dhabi-headquartered MRO specialist that provides services to more than 40 global airlines, is positioned to broaden its offerings under the agreement with prospects for growth into GCC and SAMENA markets. The companies’ statement highlighted that rising demand for such support would underpin regional expansion as aircraft makers continue to favour suppliers able to cover wider segments of the value chain. This element of the framework aligns with ongoing efforts by UAE aerospace entities to increase their international footprint through compliant, high-standard operations.

Precedence Research data places the global aerospace market at 434.17 billion dollars in 2026 with expansion to 846.30 billion dollars projected by 2035 at a compound annual growth rate of 7.71 percent. Grand View Research separately forecasts that the Middle East and Africa aerospace and defense MRO sector will register a 4.2 percent annual increase from 2026 through 2033. Mubadala’s two-decade record of aerospace investment, which includes backing for local aerostructures and materials businesses, provides the platform for the Embraer tie-up to help the UAE capture additional activity within these expanding segments.
