The Sharjah Digital Department released first-half performance metrics for its main digital platform that underscored accelerating adoption of online government services throughout the emirate. Users carried out more than 2.65 million transactions from January through June, a 102 percent rise compared with the first six months of 2025. The combined value of those transactions topped AED 514 million and exceeded the full-year total recorded in 2025, according to a statement from the department.
H.E. Eng. Lamia Al Hosan Al Shamsi, Director of the Sharjah Digital Department, said, “The results recorded during the first half of 2026 demonstrate tangible progress in implementing the Sharjah Digital Transformation Strategy 2026–2028. The strategy is focused on building an interconnected government ecosystem, developing digital services centred on user needs, and harnessing data and artificial intelligence to enhance government efficiency.” She added, “These results highlight growing confidence in digital services and demonstrate the positive impact of government integration and advanced technologies in simplifying the user journey and improving service quality.”
The department’s statement noted that 62 government entities are now linked to the platform. The number of available digital services climbed to 155 after the addition of 33 new offerings during the first half of the year. These increases form part of systematic work to deepen digital integration and expand the range of online options residents can access.
AI-enabled services attracted 19,014 users who completed transactions through them, an 110 percent rise from the comparable period last year, the statement showed. The Digital Sharjah Assistant had its institutional knowledge base extended to more than 200 government websites. The expansion supports higher response accuracy and allows users to obtain information and complete procedures more rapidly.
Registered users on the platform now exceed 546,000 while active users stand at approximately 290,000, according to the department. The Digital Sharjah app recorded more than 249,000 downloads in the first half of 2026, a 210 percent increase over the same period in 2025. The department linked the surge in downloads to the application’s growing role as the main entry point for government services.
The Sharjah results align with wider digital government advances across the UAE, where the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation completed nearly 16 million AI-powered transactions in the first half of 2026. Such parallel efforts reflect coordinated local and federal emphasis on technology to raise service standards and operational speed. Ministry figures illustrate how data-driven platforms are becoming central to public administration in the country.
The Sharjah Digital Department said it will continue to develop the platform and expand its services in support of the objectives of the Sharjah Digital Transformation Strategy 2026–2028. The work centers on enhancing access to government services while improving the efficiency of their delivery. First-half indicators are expected to inform additional refinements to the system’s features and connections.
