First Abu Dhabi Bank reported operating income of Dhs19.5 billion for the first six months of 2026, a 7 percent rise year on year, according to the bank’s financial results released Wednesday. Net interest income grew 14 percent to Dhs11.48 billion while non-interest income totalled Dhs8.02 billion and represented 41 percent of operating income. Profit before tax increased 3 percent to Dhs13.2 billion and return on tangible equity reached 18.5 percent in the period.
The bank’s second-quarter results showed further momentum with profit before tax climbing to Dhs7.08 billion, up 6 percent year on year and 16 percent from the first quarter. Operating profit surpassed Dhs8 billion in the quarter, an 11 percent sequential increase, FAB said in its announcement. This built on the Dhs5.01 billion net profit delivered in the first quarter as reported in the bank’s earlier update from April.
Total assets stood at Dhs1.41 trillion at the end of June, marking a 2 percent increase since the start of the year, the lender’s balance sheet data showed. Loans and advances expanded 7 percent year to date to Dhs661 billion while customer deposits grew 1 percent to Dhs853 billion. The bank maintained a strong capital position with a common equity tier one ratio of 13.7 percent.
First Abu Dhabi Bank has set a target of Dhs395 billion in sustainable financing by 2030, according to details in the H1 results. The group is leveraging artificial intelligence initiatives that have delivered a 20 percent productivity uplift and reduced certain operational efforts by between 70 and 80 percent, the bank noted. Its chief financial officer pointed to expectations for continued margin expansion in the coming periods.
The results come with the bank holding AA- long-term credit ratings with stable outlooks from Moody’s, Fitch and S&P, FAB said. Executives attributed the performance to the bank’s scale, diversified business model and broad client franchise across key markets. This H1 outcome demonstrates resilience in a competitive regional banking landscape.
FAB released the figures following its board meeting the previous day, as listed on the bank’s investor relations financial calendar. The announcement provides an update on progress toward medium-term financial targets. Customer focus and digital innovation remain central to the strategy outlined in the report.
