Insurance led sectoral advances with a 0.70 percent rise while banks and financial services gained 0.58 percent. Real estate added 0.46 percent, industrials climbed 0.32 percent, consumer goods and services rose 0.13 percent and telecom edged 0.03 percent higher. Transport was the only decliner at 0.07 percent.
According to the Qatar News Agency, trading activity stood at 3,897 transactions valued at QR 45.031 million on volume of 23.816 million shares by approximately 10 a.m. The session opened after the index closed the prior day at 10,003.67 points following a 0.29 percent decline. Trading Economics data shows the benchmark has fallen 2.82 percent over the past month and is down 11.07 percent from year-earlier levels.
Qatar Stock Exchange figures place the index’s year-to-date performance at a decline of 6.78 percent so far in 2026. The positive trend at the start of the year saw the index reach 10,785.36 points in early January, The Peninsula Qatar reported. The QSE 20 index closed May at 10,555 after a 0.6 percent monthly gain, marking the second consecutive month of marginal advances according to the same publication.
Trading Economics records indicate the QE index attained an all-time high of 14,931.08 points in April 2022. The Sustainable Stock Exchanges initiative data places the number of listed companies at 51 with domestic market capitalization of 200,834 million US dollars. A report published on world-exchanges.org noted that the Qatar Stock Exchange reviewed 2025 results and established a pipeline of new listings for 2026 along with additional bond and Sukuk issuances. The exchange supported a USD 200 million investment fund backed by the Qatar Investment Authority and Fiera Capital to boost liquidity and investor participation. It also partnered on Qatar’s first fully marketed secondary offering with Ooredoo to increase free float.
