Samsung Electronics said in a regulatory filing that consolidated revenue for the three months through September reached 195.25 trillion won, a 126.9 percent increase from a year earlier, while net profit climbed 514.6 percent to 75.13 trillion won. The company posted its fourth consecutive quarter of record revenue and operating profit, a streak that began in the final three months of 2025. Samsung Electronics became the first global technology company to exceed 100 trillion won in quarterly operating profit, a milestone its announcement attributed to robust sales of advanced memory products.
The semiconductor division accounted for nearly all of the group’s performance, generating 106.5 trillion won in operating profit that represented 99.1 percent of the company total, Samsung Electronics stated. Within that unit, the memory business delivered revenue of 140.7 trillion won, which surged 427 percent from the previous year on the back of higher prices and strong server demand. The company highlighted expanded sales of its sixth-generation high-bandwidth memory 4 chips, with revenue from those products more than tripling from the second quarter as it addressed needs from AI data centers.
Samsung Electronics noted during its earnings call that it had already achieved its goal of securing an HBM market share equivalent to its overall DRAM market share in the second half of the year, a target originally set for later. The firm added that its HBM supply for next year is fully sold out, with customers requesting additional volumes. According to the company’s assessment, AI-driven demand will significantly outpace industry supply through 2028 even as it ramps up production capacity.
The Device Solutions division, which houses the semiconductor operations, posted revenue of 147.1 trillion won and an operating profit margin of 72.4 percent, Samsung Electronics reported. In contrast, the mobile and consumer electronics segments faced challenges, with the MX and Networks businesses recording a combined operating loss of 0.6 trillion won despite revenue of 37.7 trillion won. The company indicated that elevated memory chip costs contributed to the pressure on those units.
Samsung Electronics announced plans to invest a record 84.4 trillion won in capital expenditure this year, with a 62 percent increase directed toward its chip business, according to details released alongside the results. The board approved a quarterly dividend of 30 trillion won as part of shareholder returns that could reach as much as 110 trillion won. Reuters reported that the company’s shares fell 6 percent following the announcement, as investors sought clearer details on future returns and the duration of the AI-driven cycle.
A separate analysis by Yonhap News Agency placed the operating profit surge at 783.1 percent from a year earlier, underscoring the memory segment’s role in powering the performance amid the broader AI supercycle. The company forecast continued strength in its chip operations into the fourth quarter while anticipating ongoing cost pressures in consumer-facing divisions. Samsung Electronics stated that it would accelerate advanced process technologies and expand its global manufacturing footprint, including operations at its new facility in Taylor, Texas.
